The Sacramento Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction has voted in its new board of directors, paving the way for women in the construction industry. As the construction industry’s labor shortage intensifies, the number of women stepping into the industry has reached an all-time high. The number of women working in U.S. construction hit 1 million this year for the first time, and women now make up a record 14.1% of the sector’s workforce.*

“NAWIC is all about breaking barriers and removing roadblocks,” says Agata Krasniewska, NAWIC Sacramento’s outgoing President. ”This is a very exciting time for NAWIC Sacramento. Our success is a result of the teamwork of the board and its members. It’s been an absolute honor and pleasure to be a part of this growth, and we are just getting started.”

2022-2023 NAWIC’s national motto is “Many paths, one mission” which unites all women working within the construction industry, whether in the field or the office, we work together to “strengthen and amplify the success of women in the construction industry”.

“NAWIC helps women take advantage of the opportunities in construction,” says Sondra Friestad, incoming NAWIC Sacramento Chapter President. “Whether you want to embark on a new career, establish a networking base, be a mentor or mentee, make a difference in your community, continue your education, or invest in great friendships, NAWIC offers a variety of opportunities — large and small.”

“Having a clear path carved out from past Chapter leadership, I am grateful and ready for the opportunity to challenge my comfort zone and step out to lead the NAWIC Sacramento Chapter this year and co-create with you! With the support of our members, board, sponsors, and donors, we will continue to break barriers and remove roadblocks for women in the construction industry.”
